  Helio Soneca Seminar and NSBJJ Grading On the 16th March 2024, New School BJJ held it’s annual grading and what an amazing event it turned out to be! New School BJJ is affiliated to the Helio Soneca Team, so it was an honour to be able to host the ‘Legend’ himself, Helio ‘Soneca’ Moreira. The event kicked off with Soneca leading the kids seminar, where he lined them up into groups, to perform a sequence of techniques that eventually lead into an arm bar from closed guard and the scissor sweep. New School Brixton has a new location NSBJJ Brixton Our NSBJJ Brixton dojo has been running now for well over a year and has grown into a club with an established group of regular members and competitors! Currently running in the Street Gym, the Brixton club has seen a lot of growth, with new members showing interest and joining to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the club coach – Reiss Bailey. This growth meant that a bigger premises was needed, where more lessons could be offered in order to meet the growing demand. Eoghan O’Flanagan, Grapple Fest Champion!! On Saturday 21st May, New School BJJ No-Gi instructor, Eoghan O’Flanagan won the under 90kg belt at GrappleFest 12, one of the top UK grappling events. Eoghan was competing against Jon Blank, a 10th Planet BJJ black belt and high level competitor from the US, with many accolades to his name, including taking 4th place at the 2019 ADCC World Championships.    During the last 5 minutes of their 15 minute round, Eoghan, fighting from the guard position, managed to put on a very tight triangle choke, forcing his opponent into submission!
